From the artisan to the person who packs our orders, Darn Good Yarn is fueled by infusing Good into all parts of our business. From our warehouse and order fulfillment partnership with Schenectady ARC (a non-profit dedicated to providing employment for adults with developmental disabilities) to our employee benefit programs, our goal is to create a better world by caring and doing things the slightly harder way. In a world of short-cuts and cookie cutter experiences, we believe that when you slow down in order to build that this creates more sustainability and stronger communities.

Note when buying pre-wound warps pay attention to the # of ends and length:
As a general rule when setting 5 ends per centimeter (epc)
150X6M is 30 cm wide 200X6M is 40 cm wide 300X6M is 60cm wide
6M is the length of the warp
Some warps come longer some shorter so check your math when ordering

For five centuries, Mayan women have transmitted through weaving esoteric designs that encoded the Mayan vision of the world. In this manner, the work of weavers was essential for the survival of important elements of ancient culture.

Mayan Hands is a fair trade nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Mayan women in their quest to bring their families out of extreme poverty as they continue to live within the culture they cherish. We believe that when provided economic opportunity and income over time, women can build sustainable futures for themselves, their families and communities.

Pintrest is an online app that lets you collect in catagories things of your own as well as others. A simple search of Saori will bring up many inspirations that can be saved as clothing ideas, color ideas challenging ideas you can search anything so here you can also collect things other than weaving like recipes.
